In March 2022, Co-SPACE invited participants to complete a 24-month follow-up survey to examine child mental health symptoms 2 years since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Key findings based on parent/carer reports within the Co-SPACE sample are as follows:
- Children and young people’s behavioural and attentional difficulties have remained relatively stable since our last report in July 2021 (see Report 11 here).
- Emotional difficulties have, on average, increased since July 2021. It is possible that this is due to the increasing age of the Co-SPACE sample since the beginning of the study (for further explanation, see Creswell, 2021).
- Children with SEN/ND and those from low income families and single-adult households continue to show elevated behavioural, emotional, and attentional difficulties relative to the rest of the sample.
