My children have mental-health problems and I’m a key worker. I don’t know how to cope.

In this article, Prof Tanya Byron answers questions from a parent who is trying to balance her job as a keyworker while caring for her children’s mental health.

My husband and I are key workers. Both of our sons have a collection of mental-health problems from early-years trauma (witnessing domestic violence, neglect) before we adopted them. We are trying to balance our jobs with caring for our children’s mental health. My younger son dislikes anyone leaving the house — just last Thursday night I went out to #clapforcarers and when I came back in the meltdown was immense.
